Story

The two faces are inspired by women participating in a protest against the Iraq War.

Although they were not on the battlefield, the red paint covering their faces, combined with the close-up framing, created the impression that they could themselves be victims caught in the line of fire.

The work explores how images of war are communicated through the media and how conflict extends far beyond those directly involved, affecting society as a whole.

When human life is reduced to nothing, it has no colour, nationality or side.
